Do I have to book?
It is always preferable to book a trek to avoid disappointment. Obviously the more time you book in advance the more chance you have of securing the particular day & time you prefer. Please note cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before the day of you trek.
Are there set days and times for the treks?
We have 3 treks per day. We cater for all abilities beginners, novices and experienced. We are open 6 days per week Tuesday to Sunday and Bank Holidays. Click here to view our prices & trek times page. Management reserves the right to alter times and ability level of treks in some cases.
How many months of the year are you open?
The centre is open for the full 12 months over the year, including the Christmas period where the centre is only shut Christmas Day and New Year’s Day!
How do I pay?
Treks can be paid for on the day by groups with less than 3 riders. Payment can be made either by cash or a cheque made payable to Cannock Chase Trekking Centre. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required for groups of 3 or more riders. We also require a 50% non-refundable deposit for any of our special events rides. You can also make payment through the gift voucher page.
Where do the rides take place?
All treks take place over the idyllic off road countryside of Cannock Chase spread over 3500 hectares
Can I get riding lessons at the centre?
At the centre we prefer to teach out over the chase rather than in traditional school environment. We find this approach is more enjoyable and fun for our customers.
What is the youngest you take on treks?
Our younger riders should be 7 years of age to trek out over the chase. For our under 7’s we offer a half hour paddock ride. Please see prices page for more information.
What weather conditions cause a ride to be cancelled?
We ride in all weather, treks are only cancelled in the case of severe frost or heavy snow fall
Is there any specific clothing I need to wear?
A riding hat is essential; if you don’t have your own you can hire these from the centre for £1. We would always advise riders to ensure they wear full length trousers, sensible shoes e.g. walking boots or wellington boots, suitable clothing depending on weather conditions e.g. warm clothing for winter and waterproofs in case of rain
This will be my first time on a horse will I be all right?
Yes certainly, we have a wide range of horses suited to all ability of rider.
Is there a weight limit for riders?
Yes our current weight limit is 16 stone, but please call as we may be able to cater for riders slightly over this weight.
